Advocacy Letter from the American Council on Education (ACE)

ACE CREDIT header image

To Whom It May Concern:

This message is on behalf of a request for transfer credit for UExcel® examinations. The American Council on Education, although not an accrediting body, has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as offering a valid and rigorous course review process which leads to college credit recommendations for formal examinations and training courses. In addition, accrediting bodies, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) have written into their policies that ACE credit recommendations are acceptable as transfer credit and should be viewed on par with transfer hours from another accredited institution.

It is this same rigorous ACE course review process that the examinations such as CLEP, DSST, and UExcel® examinations have undergone. The American Council on Education’s (ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service has determine that the examinations are worthy of college credit recommendations and should be applied, when appropriate, as transfer credit.

Other examinations and organizations that have undergone this rigorous course review can be found in the ACE National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training at www.acenet.edu/nationalguide.

If I can provide any additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me. A list of ACE CREDIT Colleges and Universities is listed on our website at www.acenet.edu/programs/CUS.

Sincerely,

Susan
