UExcel® Credit and Transcripts

Which Colleges or Universities Accept Credit-by-Examination?

Thousands of colleges and universities accept credit-by-examination, however, credit is awarded on a case-by-case basis. When you pass a UExcel exam, you receive credit from Excelsior College, a regionally accredited institution, on an official Excelsior College transcript. Ask your college if you can receive transfer credit, waive lower-level courses, or fulfill admission requirements using your transcript.

For more information about UExcel credit, please read the FAQs.

How Do I Order a Transcript?

Once you have received your official score report and have your UExcel ID ready, you can request your official transcript here.

You will be transferred to the Excelsior College Web site during this process, because you will be receiving your college credit from Excelsior College. Excelsior College is a regionally accredited institution of higher learning, and reports exam results on an official college transcript, making them widely accepted by other institutions and employers.

How Much Does a Transcript Cost?

  • If you have taken UExcel exams only, and have no other academic history with Excelsior College, your transcript is free of charge.
  • If you are currently enrolled in an Excelsior College degree program or have completed any exams/courses with Excelsior, you will be required to pay a $12 transcript fee.

How Many Schools Can I Send a Transcript To?

You can choose to send your transcript to a maximum of two addresses, per transcript request (this includes your home address, if you so choose). To send transcripts to additional schools, you will need to initiate a separate transcript request. Your official transcript will be mailed in a sealed envelope, and cannot be faxed or sent via email. If you choose to have your transcript mailed to you, do not break the seal. The documents need to stay in the form they were issued; if the seal is broken the transcript is no longer official and will not be accepted by the institution for which it was intended.

Note: If you are looking to apply to Excelsior College, you do NOT need to choose Excelsior College as one of your schools when requesting a transcript(s). Simply note on your application that you have taken and passed a UExcel exam(s).

How Long Will It Take to Process My Transcript Request?

Standard processing mails your transcript within 5 business days after receiving your request. For rush processing, there is a $30 fee, and your transcript will be mailed within 2–3 business days. If you would like your transcript sent via overnight service, please contact the Test Administration office at Excelsior College toll free at 888-647-2388 (press 1-6-6 at the prompt).
